So then, how does it work?

How to prepare your frame for repaint

When sending your frame for re-spray, remove all components, frame protection and any other items that have been fitted. Package it carefully with your name displayed clearly on the box with order form inside. All you need to do then is send to our Factory where the work begins:

Orange bikes ltd, Ainley Industrial Estate, Elland, Halifax HX5 9JP

What happens to your frame once it arrives to us

When we receive your frame, we'll strip the existing paint and prepare it for a fresh powder-coating. Out of the oven we'll face and ream any excess paint, reassemble with new pivot bearings if needed, apply new decals and fit a fresh headtube badge.  Once all that's boxed off, the frame will be packaged and on it's journey back to you.

What's good to know

If  you're local and wish to drop-off and collect your frame just let us know when placing your order by emailing sales@orangebikes.com

Expect turnaround of 2 - 3 weeks. Trust us, it'll be worth the wait!

Please be aware we can only repaint frame parts constructed from aluminium. For further information message us via our contact page.

The Finish

Like everything else at Orange the finish of our frames is done "our way". We could easily prepare a raw aluminium frame, apply one thick wet coat of paint and be done with it. However that doesn't suit our ethos, we're in the business of quality.

Each frame is cleaned, etched and is then processed individually. We apply a powder primer which needs to be cured in the oven. Once the frame is back to room temperature we're able to apply a coat of powdered paint. This again needs to be cured and then under lacquer decals are meticulously applied. Finally, a last coat of powder lacquer is applied and for one last time the frame is cured. This gives us a finish that's' resistant to the elements and will stand the test of time.

Did we mention that powder coating is better for the environment?
